Chaka Patterson understands the General Counsel role from both sides of the executive table: as a legal leader and as a business executive responsible for communicating with investors, supporting financial strategy, and helping senior management lead through consequential decisions.
Over more than three decades in corporate leadership, government, and private practice, Chaka has served as a General Counsel, business executive, board member, and advisor. He was Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary at Adtalem Global Education.
Earlier, at Exelon, Chaka served as Vice President of Treasury and Investor Relations, where he acted as the company’s liaison to Wall Street and helped prepare senior management for quarterly earnings calls. That experience taught him how CEOs, CFOs, boards, and investors evaluate risk, performance, capital allocation, and value creation.
That perspective is at the center of The Hot Seat. Chaka shows legal leaders how to bring more than technical legal judgment to the executive table: how to communicate in the language of the business, connect risk to strategy, and become a trusted partner in building enterprise value.
Chaka Patterson brings the leadership lessons of The Hot Seat to boards, legal departments, bar associations, executive teams, and leadership programs. His keynotes, fireside chats, panels, and interactive workshops help legal leaders move beyond technical expertise to become more confident, business-fluent, and influential partners at the executive table.
Drawing on more than three decades across corporate leadership, government, and private practice, Chaka gives audiences practical frameworks for making sound decisions under pressure, communicating risk in the language of the business, and leading effectively when the stakes are high.
Available for keynotes, fireside chats, panels, and interactive workshops, in person or virtually.
